I am a 56-year-old man, New Zealand-born Paakehaa of Celtic Gaelic Irish heritage of which I am firecely proud), living in my own house 5 minutes walk from the world-famous in New Plymouth, New Zealand and the world coastal walkway beside the Tasman Sea, the eldest son of June O'Donoghue (now in a homely nearby resthome) and the late Mick O'Donoghue who lived till recently very nearby, sibling of 2 younger brothers and "baby" sister, a cousin, uncle and godfather, and have good neighbours. My work and life passion is language and languages, in the sense of other languages and cultures, and linguistics and philology. My other interests are music (ranging from Irish, blues through to classical, film and TV, walking, jogging, & cycling, reading especially history, and literature, Shakespeare, King James Bible and quality magazines and newspapers, The Internet, current affairs,and ideas eg philosophy, and learning and life generally.
