I am 60, but look a lot younger than that. Previously I was an administrator at Govt Life Insurance (now Tower) & then Housing Corp. I have done administration / customer service roles for longer than I care to remember. After 16 years in banking, I was one of about 500 made redundant when the work was moved to India (this was the second time I had been made redundant). Since then I have had some paid work & have done a lot of voluntary / club activities, including CAB & Blind Foundation.
The job market is the worst I`ve seen. There have been over 1000 applicants for vacancies I have applied for.
I`ve always tried to be a worker who was totally reliable- twice I worked for 6 years with no day off sick. If someone wants an employee who just gets on with the job & offers maturity, that`s what I am.
