I was born in Hamilton and have lived here all my life so far. Most of my working life has been in customer service through eighteen years in the public service and a further year in retail. I then spent a number of years as house husband while my wife worked. Due to a change in personal circumstances I am now returning to the employment market.
I was born and raised in Hamilton, the eldest of three children. On finishing study I was employed by the Treasury Department for seven years before the local office was closed down. From there I went to the Inland Revenue Department for a further eleven years dealing primarily in customer service through correspondence, telephones and counter. In 1999 I was made redundant and took a job in a second hand book store until unfortunately that too was forced to close.
After a brief period unemployed my wife was able to find work and I became house husband until a recent change of circumstances enabled me to return to the work force.

People describe me as well presented and helpful. I am known for my creative abilities, a desire to do what I can to help others and a willingness to learn.
I'm Proud Of
I am proud of my ability to learn new skills and procedures. By way of example some years ago I was up for a possible position as graphic designer for a local business web page. Another person was in the running for the position of web designer. When he withdrew his application it was suggested that I try for that position as well. With no experience in web design I set about a crash course of study and had created my first small web site within a llittle over a week.
The Way I Work
When taking on a new task I like to make sure I understand what is required so that I may then find the best way of achieving that end. I am capable of working either alone or as part of a team and am quite willing to pass on what I know so that others can benefit from my own experience.
I Specialise In
In terms of customer service I am better at reactive services. This means I would be better in a position of retail, problem solving or help desk as opposed to proactive services such as telemarketing, real estate or other positions involving cold calling or making initial contact with potential customers. Having worked in a call center I am also very well aware of the stresses that such positions involve
I Would Be Perfect For
libraries, video rental or retail, book sellers or generally anything which involves matching a customer with the product they are seeking.
Honest, Friendly, Methodical, Creative, Intelligent
I am computer literate and can usually find my way around a variety of programs and software packages. What I do not know, I am willing and able to learn. Among my interests are drawing, painting, photography and computer art and have been told that I am talented in all of those.
I like to listen to what people have to say and can do so with an open mind and without judgement. If something falls outside my experience I have no problem with asking for advice or help.
